Musical Therapy
As people age, their physical and cognitive abilities decline, making it difficult for them to engage in activities they once enjoyed. Alzheimer's and senile dementia are two conditions that affect seniors' cognitive abilities, leading to memory loss, confusion, and disorientation. While there is no cure for these conditions, recent research has shown that interactive musical entertainment can significantly improve seniors' quality of life, especially those with Alzheimer's or senile dementia. Let’s explore the three main beneficial scientific reasons why interactive musical entertainment is an excellent choice for seniors with Alzheimer's or senile dementia.

How it Works

T-Mo Entertainment Provides exciting interactive musical entertainment that engages your seniors in stimulating mental & lite physical activities.

We perform for them using songs that they should recall from their youth. The music that we use will help activate & connect the neuropathways of their brain associated with memory. The music is only part of the catalyst which causes a higher level of positive emotions, because it’s the delivery that makes the difference.

We are encourage them to participate not only in active listening and singing along, but also to play simple instruments that we provide and hand out during each session. We integrate a multitude of props while performing, that puts a smile on all of their faces & joy in their hearts. We use colorful, moving imagery & video footage, that tell the story of each song we perform. We encourage them to sing along with us, as the large print words simultaneously are displayed on the screen, TV or wall, making it much easier for them to participate. Are goal is not only to entertain, but to work towards building a memory pathway to consistently expand upon during each session.

Musical Therapy Mission

Memory & Emotion

#1

Music activates areas of the brain associated with memory and emotion.

One of the hallmarks of Alzheimer's and senile dementia is the loss of memory. However, research has shown that music can activate areas of the brain associated with memory, even in patients with advanced stages of Alzheimer's. In a study conducted by the University of Utah, researchers found that when seniors with Alzheimer's listened to music, their brains showed increased activity in areas associated with memory retrieval, attention, and emotional processing. This increased activity leads to improved cognitive functioning and emotional well-being, which is especially important for seniors with Alzheimer's or senile dementia.

Socialization

#2

Music promotes socialization and reduces agitation.

Seniors with Alzheimer's or senile dementia often experience social isolation, which can lead to depression and anxiety. Interactive musical entertainment provides an excellent opportunity for seniors to socialize with others and connect with their memories and emotions. Singing, dancing, and playing musical instruments in a group setting can create a sense of community and reduce feelings of loneliness and isolation. Additionally, music has been shown to reduce agitation in seniors with Alzheimer's or senile dementia. In a study conducted by the University of Western Ontario, researchers found that when seniors with dementia listened to music, their levels of agitation decreased significantly, leading to a more relaxed and comfortable state.

Quality of Life

#3
